YAY! This week was infinitely more level and low key, Still got to wear some of my favourite fragrances, saw a bunch of mates and hung out with the love of my life Jin. I love chill weeks and reckon I’ve earned a couple.

Hey Hey Perfume Junkies,
OK I’m adding a THUNKED section here too. It’s becoming an APJ obsession and I love the idea of us using our fragrances and hoiking the vial, decant or bottle. Thunk is the sound of an empty hitting the bin so you must empty it for the thunk to count.
Anything worthy of comment, either good or bad, that’s passed under my nose through the week will get a short write up. If I think something is terrible, shamefully lazy, greedy or stupid and you should know about it, it will be said. As always YMMV.

Greetings APJ good people.
Ever have one of those moments when you suddenly become aware of falling head over heels for something, or someone, that really makes no sense? Maybe it is that weird tasting cereal that has ingredients that you usually despise, or that little weekend hideaway in the hills you keep returning to that is far from your beloved beach.
I fell in love with Chloe Nomade. It was only because I was repeatedly typing into in my Facebook perfume group as my Scent of the Day that it dawned on me how often I was wearing it. The glorious Drew bag shaped bottle gives nothing away of how much I have used. It has snuck into my top five list of most loved and is first for most worn.
My very dear friend, Karen, recommended Nomade a year ago. I eventually tried the scent on a card and found it unimpressive. I loved the bottle and the laid back advertising, but the scent underwhelmed me. I am not sure what prompted me to buy a 50ml bottle at the tail end of winter other than a Fragrantica review of it had me return for a closer smell. Freesia caught my eye and I realised I had not tried it on my skin.

Hey there APJ Crew,
This week has been big. Even in the depths of despair we are often asked to rise up and be the best we can for an occasion. Sometimes the very act of becoming ready to do something is enough to shore up failing resolve, broken hearts and loss. Thank everything for friends and perfume, my buoys in a sea of sadness this week. Also, Mardi Gras!

Hey there APJ! How are you all doing? Getting ready to celebrate Fat Tuesday – Mardi Gras?
Well, here in Basel it is called Fasnacht and it is actually held the week after Mardi Gras. Apparently it is a huge deal here and the festivities begin at 4 am on 11 March on a bridge. Whether or not I can drag myself out of bed at 3, let alone my nine year old, remains to be seen. This is a festival dating back to 1529 and common theory states that after the 1520 Reformation, they wanted to differ from the Catholics and therefore celebrated a week later. This has deep roots here and it will be fascinating to see.

Another week of roller coasting. Thank everything for fragrance, it has buoyed me at times week when all seemed lost. Friends and commenters on APJ too, you all know who you are. Thank you for being the wind in my sails this week.
BTW Some of you were wondering about Greg’s mega sale. His stuff is up on Fragrance Buy, Swap & Sell Australia. Australia only postage though. Yes, I might have purchased.

Hey APJ
I was in Vienna last week to see the New York based band Brass Against. The Resistance Tour. They were performing in a small club, maximum 350 people. The band play covers of classic songs by Audioslave, Tool, Back Sabbath, Rage Against the Machine ……. They are political in a time where a lot of bands sit on the wall twiddling their thumbs, not wanting to upset their fan base. Brass Against are not here for the Instagram likes. Hardcore and absolutely brilliant; as mind-blowing as when I first saw The Clash.

As luck would have it the venue was a mere ten minutes walk from the Chanel Exclusif counter.

Hey there APJ Crew,
What a week. Another roller coaster ride. Some of the troughs were especially deep. My life has been altered and edited heavily with the loss of two of the most important women in it. This is going to take some healing time.
In brighter news my fragrance wearing week was a really good one.
