CHANEL: Coco Mademoiselle: Mini Movie + Making of

We are cleaning the Perfume Room and giving it a new paint job. Also I am culling my collection, it’s so freaking painful I can’t write, sorry. It’s quite a BIG DEAL so over the next couple of days I am dropping in some Video stuff that I’ve found interesting, educational or took me outside my box. Some of it is ONE TOPIC but some will also be TOTALLY OFF TOPIC!

  1. Hi Portia,

Coco Mademoiselle is one of my daughter Lauren’s favorites. These commercials almost convince me but not quite.

Regarding the perfume room: It takes a lot of courage to cull. Such difficult decisions. Did you give yourself a maximum number or bottles or a limited volume of space occupied? I suppose it is a kind of a “pruning” (but which verdant branch or fragrant flower to has to go?).

“When over the garden wall the branches hang,
The garden’s keeper suffers ever bitter grief,
They must be cut back, even to the root,
Tho’ pearls and rubies be their fruits.”

I use this bit of Baba Tahir for lots of situations and go around saying it almost daily, trying to muster up the courage to take action! What motivated you to re-organize?

    • He he he. Mademoiselle is pretty and perfect for someone who likes to smell good, not me either.
The cull came about because many of my beautiful frags were not getting used, there are also a bunch of things that I bought thoughtlessly that need new homes, and when I took everything out to do a clean, paint and re-arrange on the room I was disgusted by my gluttony. There are quite a few boxes of To Go already but now I’m at the pointy end the decisions are getting harder. Some rarities, discontinued, hard to get that I may not wear now but have been good to me at other times.
I do understand that this is a seriously first world problem.
      Portia xx
