ELIE SAAB Haute Couture S/S 2014

Heya APJ,

You want to see how G L A M O U R should be done? Need a refresher course in absolutely over the top elegance that harks back to the days of Hollywood’s finest hours? This runway show may not push any boundaries but I bet it’s selling like crazy. This is fashion for the wealthy and I bet they lapped it up. So lavishly gorgeous and crazy that it could almost have been a Christian Dior or Oscar de la Renta show from the 1990s. Perfect.

  1. That first picture is beautiful – looks like a dress that Princess Grace would have worn. Perhaps this will be the trend as the film about her starring your very own Nicole Kidman is due out soon and is bound to inspire Princess Grace-style glamour in the fashion world this season. Lovely!

    • Hi Jillie,
I find Nicole a very weird choice for Princess Grace? She has not of the haughty American cheerleader turned royalty, not the too perfect to live elegance that my memories of Princess Grace inspire. I hope Nicole does a wonderful job and makes herself as Grace-ful as possible.
That is the closing gown of the parade, a wedding gown. Incredible. Fingers crossed for a return to this kind of OTT magic.

      • Have to say, P, that I totally agree with you about the strange casting – Nicole’s got a bit of a hard face compared with Grace’s, and doesn’t resemble her in any other way, but maybe she will wow us with her acting!
