Sang Bleu by Le Galion 2016

Post by Portia

Hello APJ,

I did what I try not to do. Yes I went to the Le Galion website and blind bought at full retail a bottle of Sang Bleu. I do feel justified sometimes to do it. These guys are creating lovely, interesting, wearable fragrance and I like their whole style. Though not everything in the line has been instant love or a super winner for me they do all have the same feeling of passion brought to life. If I was to pick a house that you could give me anything from the line and I could only wear that one fragrance for 6 months I would ask you to give me any bottle of Le Galion. Their smoothness and easy wear capabilities, they are interesting without being a challenge, can be every day or dressed up and their base lines all wear as a soft wash.

  1. I really feel like Le Galion would suit me well and am itching to sample them, but I have been making an effort to work through my full-bottle list before things I want are discontinued or priced out of all reason. That is to say, I’ve blown my budget on Chanel 😉
Recently, though, I have convinced my spouse that Cuir de Russie is really for men and that we really can share the bottle. This is huge progress. Honestly, I’ve probably said this before, but he is otherwise quite oblivious of traditional gender boundaries and still won’t touch any perfume that isn’t clearly labeled “for men.” Tuberose body wash? No problem. Girly pink Japanese shampoo that smells strongly of sugary grapefruit? Fine. Atomizer without gender label? Suspicious stare and the third degree about whether it’s sold in the Men’s department. Luckily, CdR smells very floral on me and like the neighbors prize bull on my husband so it’s about as unisex as it gets.

  2. I have never smelled anything from this line (here is my chance). 🙂 I follow by e-mail. Most of the scents in my likezone are marketed unisex. So many so I’ll just say the last one I wore was New Haarlem.

  3. I wonder if Sang Bleu is French for Blue Blood – classy name for a classy scent. I used to wear Sortilege a looong time ago, and that was certainly classy! I would be intrigued to wear this, and I follow by email

  4. I have a lovely little vintage bottle of Le Galion’s Sortilege (PdT), which I love and treasure! I have read very favourable reviews on the current, “resurrected” version of it too, and I’m really curious to try it. I am also tempted to blind buy Aesthete based on your ‘perfumes I would rebuy’ post from a while back!

    I follow via email.

  5. I follow by email. I’ve only tried Snob and really liked it a lot. I love the notes for Sang Bleu and I would dearly love to try it. Thank you for the giveaway.

  6. I’ve never even heard of this line. Boy am I out of the fragrance loop these days. Sang bleu translates to blue blood. I follow APJ by email. Also by Facebook, but I’ve suspended that until after the elections here.

  7. Oooh Portia you l’il vixen!! Torturing us with a fabulous Le Galion giveaway! For me it would have to be Sortilege or Snob, although Iris is a stunner too. Email for me, and I look forward to seeing them in my inbox. They accompany my morning coffee perfectly! Xoxo

  8. Yes, yes! Put me down for this one, Portia! Cologne-esque galbanum? I have and use the old and the new Sortilege and follow by e-mail and Bloglovin’. Thank you for the draw and for another fabulous video sniff!
    Azar xxx

  9. Love, love you videos. I haven’t had a chance to try any of the La Galion scents. The only scent I have that’s officially classified as unisex is Hermes Eau d’Orange Verte. In my opinion almost any classic cologne could be labelled as unisex. But this is coming from someone who thinks Safari for Men and Aramis are damn fine to wear.

    I follow by email.

  10. Loved the video!! 🙂 I follow via email. I have not tried any of the La Galion line (although it’s on the never ending list of “to try”). Mmm…unisex scent…Tom Ford Neroli Portofino or Byredo Gypsy Water. I’m sure others I have are classified as unisex…I usually buy what intrigues me (or my wallet is happy with…lol)

  11. Another amusing review dear Portia 🙂 Cologne-esque without being a cologne – I like this one! The only Le Galion that I have tried is the lovely Cologne Nocturne and I would love a FB. I agree with you, the bottles are nice and practical.
    I follow APJ by email.

  12. I would love to try anything from Le Galion but have never had the chance yet.
In our house unisex only works one way…I still all his but he would not dream of wearing anything in my cupboard!
I am able to spray by stealth though!

  13. You’re just so damn cute I can’t stand it. DNEM I just wanted to say hi. I haven’t tried anything by this line. I think I should. So glad your blind buy was a success. I love when that happens.

  14. Given how many unisex releases now come, the unisex I wear are too many. But I must say the last two unisex perfumes I acquired which really blew me away are coincidentally both from Chanel, i.e. 31 Rue Cambon and Cuir de Russie. The Le Galion I like the most is Sortilege because the bottles that have not turned away (from original release) are almost nonexistent now.

I follow APJ by email and FB.

  15. I follow by email and have only barely sniffed the Le Galion range. I think I remember liking Tubereuse and is there in iris one? I don’t remember!
And unisex scents… aren’t all scents unisex? 😉

  16. I’m not sure if anyone else would consider it to be unisex, but I love the way Kouros smells on me (female). Generally, I treat all frags as unisex, and often prefer ‘male’ scents to ‘female’ ones. I follow by email – thanks for the draw Portia, you’re so generous, as always.
