Teazzurra by Thierry Wasser for Guerlain 2015

Hello Tea Freaks,

I was in David Jones city store recently and was chatting with the Guerlain SA. She was so kind and offered a couple of Teazzurra samples, one for me and one for you.

I would like to take a moment here to say how distressed I am about Guerlain stopping the Sample/Decant services selling their product. As an Australian far from the Guerlain main markets it is nearly impossible to get my sniff on their products any other way. My list of Guerlain purchases while overseas is made in the year or so leading up to travel by sampling through these services. Not to mention being able to do as early as possible writing for APJ.  GRRRRR!

Teazzurra Guerlain FragranticaFragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Bergamot, lemon, yuzu, grapefruit
Heart: Green tea, chamomile, jasmine
Base: Musk, calone, vanilla

Love the fizzy citrus opening that tickles my nose and feels luminous and fun. My nose does get the yuzu in there originally that bittersweet’s up to grapefruit. It does dry out through the heart and is slightly like a herbal infusion but basically it heads straight for a very soft, radiant vanilla/jasmine over laundry musks. Sadly I even miss out on the calone, which could have given me that fun salty melon thing it does so well. I fear Teazzurra has been a miss for me. BUMMER! If the opening and heart had lasted into 30 minute territory on me I would have forgiven it the less than exciting rest of its lifespan.

I used up my whole sample to write this so there was plenty of fragrance on my skin but it just did not live up to my expectations. I think I will pass on Teazzurra. If it was a lot less expensive, maybe. It’s not terrible scrubber material, just boring.

Obviously your mileage may vary and Teazzurra might be heavenly on you. Lucky you, I wish it was for me.

  1. Hi Portia,
What a pity. I don’t have much luck with the AA collection, altough I love the bottles, so I keep trying.
I used to have the Pamplelune, which was an instant buy, but I gave it away as we did not match.
I’d love to try the Teazzurra.
    And I follow by email.
    Thanks, Agnes

  2. Hi Portia, and thanks for the opportunity.
    I follow by email.
I have Aqua Allegoria Tiare Mimosa and I do like it, but it’s very soft on me. I would like to try Orange Magnifica; I stole a few orange blossoms while I was out today and now orange is all I want!

    Thanks again

  3. I did try Teazzura but found it a bit wan , so please DNEM but have to agree with the sampling policy, surely Guerlain will miss out on full bottle sales if we have not been able to sample first. And the decant sites have bought bottles in the first place.

  4. Hey Portia, DNEM ’cause I had the same reaction to Teazurra. Meh. There are AA’s that I love like Lys Soleia, the original Neroli which is a stunner, and Shalimar Souffle, which Tresor pointed out really is more of an AA than a Shali, so that’s how I’ve always approached it! Xoxo

    • Oh yes.
Lys Soleia, Jasminoia, Herba Fresca, Pampleune, Tiare Mimosa, Gentiane and Vanille & Ylang are all full bottles in my collection. Really like the range.

  6. Funny you should write this! I have been a) absolutely ticked off at what I think is a very poor marketing decision, and, even an attempt to gain a more “exclusive” prestige brand image which is just a flop; b) I’ve been going for the Aquas lately! A few weeks ago, and several hot flashes, I needed desperately to “feel cool” in California.

I tried a sample of Herba Fresca–and yes, yes, yes. Minty, soothing, uplifting coolness! It then subsides to a quite long-lasting, low-silage green-lily-like scent to my nose. Then I tried Mandarine Basilic. Mind you, these were SAMPLES I got at Posh Peasant I believe. I would NOT have blind purchased them–not in a minute, after hearing reports of low silage and longevity. Well, I purchased two bottles! Then, having read Luca T’s review of Pamplelune, I ordered a SAMPLE of that. Guess what’s coming in the mail now? Yes, a FB. So, my favorite is still the Fresca. I like the toothpaste scent with a citrus herbal encore and then a low, gentle floral. And, I spritz with abandon. I hope this does not offend, but for ladies of a certain age–this works! Hit that decolletage with some heavy sprays, then the ears–cooling on the wrists and upper arms. Relax and feel the heat just melt away. Heaven. But, I now have two FBs and one on the way.
Guerlain? Are you listening? Allowing us to sample (via online dist.), moves us to make a purchase. If we don’t like it, we won’t purchase it. But we are not (usually) going to purchase a product we don’t know anything about. We will be more likely to purchase a product that we’ve tried, and, obviously liked. I am a devoted sampler, and bottles of perfume like Romanza Masque would not be gracing my dresser if I had not been able to try first. Samples feed the fire of my addiction, sadly, and happily!
This new Aqua sounded so promising with the notes and with the calone, another summer scent, but if I can’t sample, no way. So, I think I’ll just enjoy the three bottles I have, Guerlain…
BTW I started off my day with Mandarine Basilic, nice and citrusy, light and cooling, and transitioned to Serge Lutens Mandarine (I don’t smell the celery some of you note)–it’s been a lovely mandarin day!

  7. Irecently discovered a ¾ full bottle of Shalimar in my fridge. Tucked in a corner for, dare I say 20years!
It’s travelled with me through home renovations, new fridges and just sat forgotten in the back corner. Since the discovery it has reignited my love for all things Guerlain

So how do I follow : email via newsletter
What would I like to try: Teazzurra – why not ?
    Cheers

  8. Thanks for the review. Guerlain is one of my favorite perfume house. I have a varieties of Guerlain fragrances in my collection, but I don’t like tea as a note in perfumes. So Teazzurra is not for me.
From Guerlain Aqua Allegoria line, I have bottles of Lys Soleia and Nerolia Bianca. Would like to buy the discontinued Winter Delice.
Thanks for the giveaway but I am not participating.

  9. Herba Fresca is a favourite of mine, and I’m also very partial to Tiare Mimosa. And one I’d love to try: Winter Delice (fat chance, I know!).

Thank you for the draw, Portia, I follow by email.
