Hey there APJ,
Yesterday Evan came over for a sniff. Well he really came over to give me a sniff of his newest fragrant beauties. What a fabulous bunch he has purchased lately. There were Nishane, Creed, Tom Ford, Villoresi and a bunch of others. So much fun sniffing together on cardboard and after initial sniffings I decided to put two on my skin, Tom Ford Lavender Palm and Laudano Nero.

Laudano Nero by Paolo Terenzio
Parfumo gives these featured accords:
Top: Absinth, Cognac, Rosemary, Latakia tobacco, Myrtle, Black amber
Heart: Red rose, Acacia honey, Cedarwood, Iris, Sandalwood, Rosemary, Flowering ash, Slate, Cashmere, Camphor tree
Base: Frankincense, Oud, Gum rockrose, Vetiver, Musk, Oak, Madagascan vanilla, Bay leaf, Caper
OK, I’m not going to tell you this is the best amber I ever smelled because L’Eau d’Ambre and Ambree Ceruleen are those for me. What did happen though was I found myself drawn to my wrist so often, just to check progression and enjoy the fabulous ride.
Opening with vanilla, booze and tobacco right from the get go. The nuance from all the side notes creates an interesting ride yet vanilla-centric amber hogs the spotlight almost all the way through. Further, though I have a bunch of beautiful ambers my mind was already getting online and ordering a bottle. This in the middle of 30+C heat, I must be crazy.
As the heart becomes apparent I find the dry woods and a sheer, earthy iris make a lovely wash over the amber. Not hiding it but giving the effect of greying the whole fragrance out. A hint of that note my nose thinks of as popcorn and the merest whiff of a rose, prim and aloof.
Evan very kindly gave me a few ml to review with and I wore it again all evening and this morning. A dry, barkish amber that is so me I can’t begin to tell you. I spent about 30 minutes ferreting out a few of my ambers to talk myself back from the brink of buying. It still may happen…..
Have you tried Laudano Nero or any of the other Tiziana Terenzi fragrances?
